The Best of Everything by Kimberla Lawson Roby

When desperate times call for desperate measures, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Alicia Black Sullivan is all grown up and married. Being the daughter of the Reverend Curtis Black, does being Daddy's Baby Girl live up to the standards of being the preacher's daughter and the preacher's wife? With Alicia, its her way or no way at all being married to Phillip.

Kimberla Lawson Roby had an excellent concept but it did not measure up in this novel with Alicia. We were thrown into her adulthood. We never went on the journey with her throughout college. I must say I was very disappointed with this novel. The plot was not very interesting and the usual drama was not there. Of course everything was very predictable. It did not hold my attention. All Alicia did was go shopping, and did more shopping, and more shopping. If you still want to read this novel, check it out of your local library. Save your money.

Lady Preacher by K.T. Richey

Can you overcome adversity by being in bondage? Can you forget that you are human just because you are a minister? Shante Dogan is a minister with the New Pilgrim Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is so refreshing to read a book with a setting of familiar places here in the South. Shante lives a life of secrets and privacy. She is always depended upon her members of her church and always falls short of getting spiritual guidance for herself. She is so secretive and so private that she puts her relationship with Max in jeopardy. Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. Will Shante be able to free herself of the past and continue to walk and balance her faith in God and romance and continue to earn her respect in the community?

The characters in this novel were based around Christian values and the author represented that very well by offering each character a challenge in their lives that we as real people experience everyday. The emotions were there and I could visualize each character. Even though the main character in the book was Shante, my favorite character was Max. He was the sweetest man I never met, yet I truly believe a Max certainly exists in real life. He was almost too good to be true.

K.T. Richey wrote an insightful Christian Romance about the different types of abuse, romance in the pulpit, and how to handle negative press being a strong female leader in a male dominated community.
